A Letter From Bula's CEO Regarding Coronavirus

By Laura Carpenter

On behalf of the entire Bula team, I want to assure you that in times of uncertainty surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19), keeping you informed of rapid developments remains our highest priority.

The states’ responses may affect pharmacists and pharmacy operations.  We are monitoring and publishing daily updates to Bula with Executive Orders, Proclamations, or Board guidance.  You will find this information in the Current Law Database, using search terms such as “Coronavirus” “COVID-19” and selecting the sort filter “newest to oldest”.

As of COB Tuesday, March 10, 2020, 22 states have declared a State of Emergency related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.  Under these proclamations, pharmacies may be able to assist patients to obtain refills of their chronic medications so that it is easier for those patients to remain at home in the event that they wish to avoid being in public.

Those 22 states include:

  1. Alaska
  2. California
  3. Colorado
  4. Connecticut
  5. Florida
  6. Hawaii
  7. Indiana
  8. Illinois
  9. Kentucky
  10. Maryland
  11. Massachusetts
  12. Mississippi
  13. New Jersey
  14. New York
  15. North Carolina
  16. Ohio
  17. Oregon
  18. Pennsylvania
  19. Rhode Island
  20. Tennessee
  21. Utah
  22. Washington (2 proclamations)

We want you to know that Bula’s Policy Analysts are monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely, watching carefully as states respond to the crisis, and keeping those who are affected in our hearts.

Look for more updates from Bula as the situation continues to evolve.  As always, don’t hesitate to reach out with questions.

Best,

Laura Carpenter
CEO
